11 months old!!

Roman is already 11 months old!! I am simply amazed that I am planning his 1 year birthday party!!!

Roman is walking!!! He falls a lot, but enjoys getting right back up and trying again!! So cute!!! He started taking his first steps when he was about 10-1/2 months old. Here's a video of him walking. Ignore my annoying voice!

Roman is still taking about 28 oz of formula a day with a 4 oz bottle in the morning and then 3 other 8 oz bottles throughout the day. He is eating 3 meals a day and a small snack around 3pm. It is such a CHALLENGE to get him to eat now!!! I'm hoping that once he's off the bottle, he will start liking more food. He used to be such an amazing eater!! He now only eats finger foods and will only have you feed him applesauce or yogurt with a spoon. No more jar baby food for this BIG boy! Matt and I try so hard to get creative with our food selection for him. We've made him sweet potato fries, broccoli cheese florets, quesadillas, turkey meatloaf with lots of veggies, and veggie lasagna just to name a few. We're getting there! Half of his food gets thrown on the floor to Captain. He also keeps trying to chew his food with his front teeth, which doesn't work and half of it falls into his bib. He loves the pocket bib because he will sometimes put food in there and save it for later. It's really cute to see him dig in there as a last resort!
He does love daddy's lasagna!
Captain is alert and ready for the food to fall!

He is finally waving! We've been working on this for a while. Roman has been giving hi-fives for a while, but the wave was a little bit harder for him. Now he waves at people and things like his pancakes in the morning. So funny and cute!!
He's at the end of his wave
Waving at daddy!

Roman also gives kisses!!! He knows how to pucker his lips and smack a kiss. It is so adorable!!

He weighs around 24 lbs and is wearing size 12-18 month and mostly 18 month clothes. My big boy!!

Seriously!! Look at that cellulite!!

And those thighs!!

Roman is still going to school 3-4 days a week and is doing great there. He loves being around the other children and will only take 1 nap a day when he is there. At home, on the other hand, he still takes 2 naps a day. I can't complain. He has to have his 10am morning nap and then his big 1-3pm afternoon nap. Works great for us!
Such a cutie taking his nap

Roman still goes to bed around 7:30-7:45 and gets up around 7am. I let him play in his crib until around 7:30 while I'm either getting ready for work or running on the treadmill.

After we moved Roman's room downstairs, I noticed that his crib was really scratched up around the edges. I got onto Matt for scratching it during the moving process. Oops, because a couple of days later, we realized that the scratches were from Roman biting the edge of the crib in the mornings while he's playing in there! Silly boy!!

Roman loves bath time! We took a few pictures last night before he took a bath. Matt always does bath duty when he's in town. It's their little bonding time.

I had to blur out his private parts
No words are necessary!!

Roman loves to read books! No, he can't actually read, but he loves to sit in your lap and look at the pretty pictures. Who doesn't love to turn to pages?! He's one of his favorite pastimes! His favorite books all have animals in them. It's so fun to hear all of the different sounds that animals make!!

I just can't believe how fast Roman is growing!! I am loving every minute of it and can't believe that he's almost a toddler!!! What a blessing it is to be his mom!!

Let it snow!!

It snowed last week a lot!! Record snow in Dallas of 8-12 inches!!! It was so great except daddy wasn't there to enjoy it with us!! I got some cute pictures of Roman looking out at the snow, but couldn't figure out a way to get him in the snow without getting completely drenched. I finally set a towel outside and had him sit on it. He was not happy!!

Superbowl Party!

We had a few friends over for the superbowl a few weeks ago. It was a great time! It's always fun to see Roman bond with his little buddies! Matt worked hard in the kitchen by making homemade Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and homemade french fries. Yummy!

Playing around

My little boy is so sweet and fun!!! It is so amazing to watch him grow, learn, laugh, and play!! We thrive on making him laugh!!!
"The animal is going to get you!!!"

Silly mommy!
Look at all of big boy's teeth! It must be pretty funny to make him flip his head back!

Upside down Roman!!
Posing for daddy!!
Daddy is going to throw him in the air!

"This is so much fun!!!!"

Roman's new room! Start to finish...

A couple of weeks ago, we had a contractor come in and change the one large bedroom downstairs back into two bedrooms. Originally, when the house was built it was two bedrooms, but Matt's parents changed it to one large bedroom when he was little because they felt bad for him that his two older brothers got huge bedrooms upstairs, so they wanted to give him one huge bedroom downstairs. Now, Matt is wanting it to be two bedrooms and so we hired the contractor to do it. Are you seeing a pattern... Matt wants and Matt gets! Ha Ha!! I measured the room and drew the existing plan and the proposed plan on AutoCAD and we sent it to the contractor. It's been an exciting process!! Anyways, below are the pictures of the before room. The closet on the right was added originally for the one large bedroom. We had it removed and created two closets in the middle of the two new rooms.

If you see the beams above, this is where the new walls are going to be placed.
New walls are coming along!
Just inside Roman's new room!
Roman's new closet is on the right.
Same wall is now getting gypsum board put on
Roman's closet has a door now!

The entry door to Roman's new room! The contractors finished in five days!! We were amazed!
To save money, Matt decided for us to paint all of the new trim, doors, and walls. Oh how fun!!! We painted straight through the entire weekend! In between watching Roman and eating, all we did was paint! Roman's new room had to have stripes on it too!!
I'm going crazy with paint!! Not to mention that we were both sick with sinus infections and I had an ear infection. I can honestly say that I not once smelled the paint!!!
A couple of days later... The finished product!! Roman's crib is where the old closet used to be.

This is the new wall with his new closet.
The room is the size of a real nursery now!

Roman loves his new room!!!

It was a fun couple of weeks!! We worked so hard! The other room adjacent to Roman's is now the guest bedroom. The house has 5 bedrooms with 4 baths!! We definitely have plenty of space now!!! We worked so hard and enjoyed the time together!! It's been fun! Now time to relax!

Sick and moving

Today is the first day that I can officially breathe clearly! Matt and I both caught whatever Roman had and it knocked our whole family down!! We both got sinus infections and I woke up a week ago with an ear infection. I have never experienced that pain before! It was horrific! Poor baby Roman has had them so many times! I just have so much more sympathy for him now. Maybe that's why God let this happen to me. Anyways, it has been such a hard time with all of us being sick. I was officially sick for 3 weeks!!! I still can't hear completely out of my left ear, but we're getting there.
On another note, we're moving tonight!! Downstairs, that is... not to another house. We are renting Matt's parent's house while our condo is being rented out. We originally moved upstairs with Roman while we left the master bedroom for his parents when they would come in town. Slowly, over time, they haven't been coming as much and we realized that when baby number two eventually comes (no not pregnant!!!), we'll need more space. We're not planning on buying another house until we know for sure what city we're going to live in. So we did construction on the house last week and made a large bedroom downstairs back into two bedrooms (one for Roman and one for future baby) and now we're moving into the master bedroom. We have the movers coming tonight. Who hires movers to move your stuff around in the same house...we do!!! It's a lot of work, but it's been so exciting! Especially to completely re-do Roman's nursery!! I've been taking pictures of the remodel process and will upload soon. Have a great day!!
