It's official!!!

After much debate, I've decided that I'm going back to work. I have had a really hard time with this decision. If you knew me at all before you would be completely shocked! I am the girl that stood in front of my college professor in a presentation and said that I wanted to be a baby machine and stay home!! When I worked at previous jobs, I would come home almost in tears to Matt saying I can't wait to have a baby so I can stay home. God can really open doors and if you pray, he will show you the way. I prayed and prayed and just for some reason did not feel comfortable staying home right now. I have a great job that is flexible and understanding. Not to go into much detail, but they are going to be very flexible with me, especially at first! We found a daycare for Roman literally down the street from our house. With Matt being a pilot, Roman will really only be in daycare 2-3 times a week. I am confident that this is the correct decision. It is going to be so hard for me at first! I am starting work on Monday, June 8th. Send the prayers this way. I'm scared and excited all together!!

Trip to Springfield

Roman, Matt and I drove to Springfield last Saturday morning so I could go to my friend, Sarah's, baby shower. We actually drove to Tulsa on Friday night and stayed with his parents to break up the trip. Roman has had a great adventure! He got to see his cousins, the triplets, on Friday night. They LOVE Roman! They would crawl in their daddy's lap saying, "I'm baby Roman!" It was so cute!!

Sarah's shower was a great time!! It was so good to see everyone!! Roman was up literally all night long the night before so Matt and I were exhausted!!! I had 2 Starbucks trips on the way. Probably not good for nursing!! Mamma's gotta do what she needs to do to manage!!

Matt flew out of Springfield to work on Monday and stayed with my mom all week. We have had a great time!! My mom watches my niece, Catherine, everyday so it's been adventurous having Roman, Catherine, and of course Captain. The main little set back is that Catherine is terrified of Captain. Poor Roman doesn't know any better when Captain licks his little ears!

We went on a long walk in the park. It was so great!!!

We drove to see my grandmother in Arkansas one afternoon. It is so sad because she has Alzheimer's and had to be put in a nursing home. She doesn't know who we are, but I really wanted Roman to have a picture with his great grandmother. On the way there, my mom and I stopped in Branson. She wanted to show me the new Branson landing with a lot of shops. We enjoyed ice cream while watching a little water show.

Going private

Unfortunately, it might be time to start thinking about going private. I really hate to do this because I don't want to lose any readers, but I'm starting to get comments from really random people that I don't even know. People in Brazil don't need to know about our life. I know there might be people out there that may not want to admit you read my blog, but if you know me at all, please give me your email and I will add you to the list. Matt and I would love to have friends of friends and our family keep reading our blog. We just have to do what's best for our family. Send me your email addresses and I can put you on the list.

2 months old!!

Roman was 2 months old on Tuesday, May 12th. He had his doctor's appointment that day. Here are his stats:

Weight 11lbs 7 oz (50th percentile)
Height 22" long (18th percentile)

He now smiles a lot, but usually for no apparent reason. He's napping some on his tummy. I was told to do more tummy time with him. He is also sleeping more at night!! I have been giving him a bottle at 9 pm and he sleeps until 3am. We both get up at 6am and start the day. I'm trying to really crack down and get him on a schedule. He is getting more mobile and holding his head up more and more on his own. Daddy works with him to stand on his feet. This kid has strong legs!! We are so in love with our little guy!!!

Bath time!! Our little cow!

He loves the swing!!!

Sporting his Polo jumpsuit that he can finally fit in!!

Mother's Day and Birthday

Last weekend we had the best time ever! Matt's parents came in town and we got to spend time with them to celebrate mother's day and my birthday. Pam took care of Roman on Friday afternoon and Matt took me to Ferring's at the Ritz for an early mother's day lunch. It was so wonderful to get out!!! We had the best food and wine. Then as soon as we finished, Pam took me to get our nails done. I feel so spoiled!! Sunday was mother's day and we took Roman to church. He does pretty good and just sleeps in his car seat. Later that day we walked with Roman and Captain to the Grocery store. It was so much fun and took about 2 hours to get there and back. Great family time!!
My birthday was Monday, May 11th. Matt took me to Northpark with Roman. I got to pick out some clothes with my birthday money. It was so great to get out and shop again!! Roman did great! By the way, there are great nursing rooms at Northpark now!! Then, last night we had league over at Kristin's house to see her nursery. It is so cute!! They bought me a little birthday cake. We had such a great time!!!

Three Years ago...

Matt and I celebrated out anniversary a few weeks ago on March 25th. We have been married for three years now. I just need to take a moment to write about it now, so I remember how this anniversary was. Matt's parents came in town and watched Roman when he was only 2 weeks old so we could go out to dinner. I was so exhausted!!! Matt and I went to Taverna's at 3 pm. It happened to be the best time in between Roman's feeding schedule. We laughed at dinner how last year we celebrated our anniversary with a cruise. Oh how times have changed!!

I thought our wedding day was the best day of my life, but these past three years have been the best years of my life. I love you, Matt, so much and can't wait to spend many more years with you!!

This is a tiny preview of part of our wedding video. Our videographer was amazing!!! http://vimeo.com/4317131

Seven week old update

Roman is now seven weeks old. It is amazing how much he changes in just a week. Last week was so wonderful. Matt was home for seven days. We just hung out together as a family every day. We really got a routine down. I would get up with Roman and nurse him around 7:30 am and then he goes back to bed and I go to the gym. Matt would wake up around 9:30 and get Roman and hang out watching ESPN until I came home. Then he would make us breakfast while I nurse Roman again. Our specialty last week was french toast! During breakfast we would start a movie and just relax. Matt typically doesn't brush his teeth until late in the afternoon. Talk about chillin!! Later in the day Matt goes to the gym and I hang out with Roman. Usually as soon as Matt gets back from the gym, we go on a walk in the park and then come home and Matt fixes an incredible dinner. Some of his meals last week were lasagna, ceviche, grilled fish, chicken and veggie skewers grilled, and of course homemade cookies. Seriously, he is an amazing cook!! After that we bath Roman and watch more TV and just hang out together. We are still feeding Roman one formula bottle at the late night feeding. Matt gives him this bottle while I pump. Then I go straight to bed, considering that I have to get up in a few hours again to nurse Roman. Matt usually puts Roman to bed. We have such a great system. It's just a lot harder when Matt is gone. Roman and I manage, though. I enjoy my one on one time together. It's hard, though. I really go through a small depression every time that Matt leaves for a trip. It takes a good half day to get over it. I just try to remember how great God is for giving me such a wonderful little family!! I just love my boys!! Including Captain!!
