Week 36!

Week 36 of pregnancy flew by like the past few weeks. We completely finished the nursery this past weekend. We had to hang some airplanes from the ceiling and nail in a few things. It feels so great to be done and ready!!! Matt installed the car seat base in my car yesterday. I feel so funny driving around with the empty base! They say you go through that nesting phase right before the baby comes, but I really don't have much else to nest! Everything is as ready as it can be!! Yeah!!! Now all we need is baby!!!
I've been feeling this "ripping" pain in my stomach right around my belly button. I asked the doctor if this is normal and she said that it's just Roman pushing really hard in the same place. She looked at me and said, "well look you're bruised all along the belly button!" I thought it was weird that my skin was a little different color right there. Didn't realize that it was a bruise, though!!! Of course, Matt had to joke that his little athlete is just getting started!! I can't wait to tell Roman one day that he bruised mommy!!

I started going to my weekly doctor appointments last week. Sorry if this is too much information, but I'm kind of keeping this as a journal for myself. The doctor said that Roman is already head down way in my pelvis. She said that it could be a problem with my size of hips for the baby to fit, but he's already down there, so no problem!! Yeah!! Also, I am 80% effaced. No dilation yet, but as soon as that happens, she thinks the whole labor process won't be too long! This is great news!! The only thing is that we don't want little Roman to come too early. Matt has 2 more 4-day trips for work and I really want him to be here!!! He really wants to be here!! Let's just pray that Roman will stay put for a little longer. I'm thinking that he will. I plan to take it really easy these next couple of weeks. Thanks again to everyone for your support, prayers, and gifts. Matt and I are so lucky to have such a great support system!!!

Roman's nursery photos!!

Well, the pictures are finally here!! We have worked really hard on little Roman's room and we are pretty much finished!! Remember, the room is 16' x 17', so we had a TON of space to work with. I put a queen size bed in the room to help fill the space. There is still plenty of space for him to crawl around and play. I've really tried to be "crafty" and budget throughout the process. It's been a blast!!! Below are the "before" pics and then I will show the "after".

Now for the after pictures!

We actually got his crib and the glider/ottoman at JC Penny's

I looked everywhere for the perfect metal letters and finally found them at Anthropology!

His crib bedding is really simple. I wanted a clean, crisp look. We registered for it at Pottery Barn Kids.

This is the adorable hand painted rocking horse that Matt's grandmother gave us and a handmade blanket that my mom's friend made.

To make the room feel taller, I mounted the curtains to the ceiling.

I fell in love with these airplane finials at Land of Nod from Crate and Barrel

The pillow on the glider matches his bedding and has his initials on it.

The bedding on the queen bed is navy gingham sheets with a plain white duvet cover and an airplane quilt and shams from Pottery Barn Kids. Roman better love airplanes because his toddler bed is already set up!

I got matching gingham lampshades for the bedside tables and of course a few airplanes to spice it up!!Here's a better picture of the airplane quilt

These are Matt's airline maps that he uses. We picked random cities in the US to frame. We bought the frames at Ikea. I had to stay consistent and use the metal frames.

Yes, there is a TV in the room for right now. I figured I might need it for those late night feedings. I'll take it out later, when he's old enough to know. I didn't want to buy a separate changing table, so I just put the changing pad on the dresser.
I just fell in love with this step stool!!! The metal airplanes behind it still need to be hung from the ceiling. That's our finishing touch!!

Here are the finished paintings that I did for Roman. They are done with acrylic paint that I had left over from college. I even had the blank canvases in our storage! Virtually free artwork!!

I bought these shelves from Target and filled them with baskets and the gingham liners from Pottery Barn Kids. I needed to tie in the gingham theme from the other side of the room plus we really needed the storage.

That's all!! I can't wait for Roman to see his room!!! I know he won't completely appreciate our hard work, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the entire process. Yes, it is true, I color rendered drawings and space planned the room on Auto CAD beforehand. I'm a freak!!!

Work Shower!

My sweet friends at work came together and threw me a shower last Friday at lunch. We had it at Gatti Town. How appropriate, considering Matt and I will probably be spending lots of time there in the next few years. It was such a great time! I was in shock in the amount of people that came to support me. Thanks to everyone!!

Week #34

Week 34 brought on pretty much the same challenges as previous recent weeks. As Roman is betting bigger, I am getting just a little more miserable. Back aches are still happening and now my pants are all getting tighter at the waist! I only have 1 pair that are really comfortable! Uh oh!! Luckily, work is letting me work one day from home a week, so I can sit in my comfy pajamas and work! Doc says everything looks normal and great! So, sorry for my complaining, I am so grateful to God for this miracle and every pain is completely worth it!! I can not wait to meet this little baby boy!! Matt and I are so excited we can't stand it!!
34 week picture

Last weekend was going to be kind of relaxing, but that changed quickly when we got a phone call that Matt's brother Mark was coming in town with the triplets. We had a great time hanging with him and those precious kiddos!! Here are some pics of them.
