Saturday = fun day!

Last Saturday, March 27th, was such a fun day! Matt and I woke up with Roman around 7:30 (the normal time) and cooked a big breakfast. Matt surprised me by letting me know that he had found the place that did our wedding cake and ordered an anniversary replica cake for us to celebrate our anniversary! He's so cute! He searched on "the knot" and called around to various bakeries around Dallas asking them if they had done a wedding cake for Ashley Wilson 4 years ago. Love that guy!! We all hopped in the car and drove downtown to Frosted Art to get the cake. What a fun surprise!! As we were driving home, I remembered that the farmers market was close by, so we stopped there for a fun late morning/early afternoon lunch and bought lots of locally grown veggies and plants for our back yard. It was so much fun!! As soon as we got home Roman went down for a nap while Matt and I planted our new veggies in the garden. Next we hurried and headed to Firewheel golf course for a little Easter celebration. Lindsey and Corey were there with Chloe. It was so fun for Roman to run around on the golf course and see the animals in the petting zoo! As soon as we got home, we made our artichoke ravioli that we got from the Farmers market. So yummy! After Roman went to bed, we devoured the cake with a little champagne while watching our wedding video. I can't believe that we've been married for 4 years! What a great day!!
He's our future golfer!

It was so windy and hard to get a great family pic!

Weather!

I love weather! It's so fun that we were outside playing in 70 degree weather on Friday, had a rainy lazy day on Saturday, and got 6" of snow on Sunday!! Love it!! We had to grab a few pics before we left for church that morning!

Playing with my buddy Chloe!

Lindsey and Chloe came over last Friday for a playdate again. We always have so much fun! Matt came in town from his trip around 6 that evening, so we decided to have Lindsey, Corey, and Chloe stay for dinner. Chloe and Roman had so much fun playing together, eating dinner together, and taking a bath together. They put Chloe to sleep in our pack in play in the guest room and stayed and hung out later that night. Matt grilled us a great dinner. We had so much fun with them!!
The kiddos going down the slide!

They are both so into books!
Daddy is home!!!

It's so funny because Chloe LOVES Matt! They were about to go get a bath

12 months old!!

Our big boy is now 12 months old! I can't believe it's been a whole year that we've been blessed to be his parents! We went to the doctor on Friday, March 19th for his yearly check up.

Here are his stats:

Weight 24lb 10oz (75%)
Height 30" (55%)
Head Circ. 47-1/2" (80%)
Roman did pretty good at the doctor on Friday considering that he had 4 shots and had just gotten his ear tubes put in a couple of days earlier. Wednesday morning, (St. Patrick's Day) my mom and I took Roman to get his tubes and had to be in North Richland Hills for the surgery at 6:30am! We were home by 9am. Overall he did good and we found out from the doctor that he had a double ear infection! This reassured us that the tubes were necessary! Poor boy was just living with the pain of an ear infection! As we were leaving, he threw up in my arms in the parking lot from the anesthesia. It's so sad to see your baby sick! There was lots of blood and puss from the infection (sorry, gross I know!) coming out of his ears for the next few days. He's finally recovering and I really think that he's "babbling" and "talking" a lot more because he can actually hear! I'm so grateful that my mom was there to help me!!

Here's Roman at his 12 month check up. Big boy ate all of his snacks to keep him preoccupied while waiting for the doctor.
Turning one year old has brought on a lot of changes in our household...
  • Roman is now officially off of the bottle! I have him whole milk the morning of his birthday and we never went back. The day after his ear surgery, I gave him milk in sippy cups all day and realized that night that we never used a bottle that day! The next day, I packed up all of the bottles and put them up for the next baby. This big boy is only using sippys! Cold turkey worked for us! He is still not drinking much milk at all, though. He's only getting about 10 oz a day. We are in a transition period and hoping that he'll like the milk better in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, his doctor said that what we're doing is fine and to just make sure that he eats yogurt and cheese.
  • Since Roman has been off of the bottle, he has been eating so much!! It is crazy to see how much food he can put down!! Last night he ate as much homemade vegetable lasagna as I did!! This is so different than the past couple of months. If he's hungry, then we feed him! Roman now eats lots of our homemade turkey/carrot meatloaf, veggie biscuits, veggie pasta dishes, tofu, strawberries, oranges, bananas, steamed carrots, french toast, and peanut butter. Yes, his pediatrician said that we could give pb to him and he loved it! Pretty much he'll eat almost anything we give him. I know this is probably just another phase, but we're hoping that he will continue to be a good eater.
  • Roman is still in a size 4 diaper and wears size 18 month clothes. The 12 month are all too tight on his large belly and thick legs, but they are the right length. We have to roll up most of his 18 month pants. It's so funny!
  • Our sweet boy claps, waves, and blows kisses quite a bit. I love that he's trying harder to communicate with us. His only real words are still "mama" and "dada". We're working on talking!
  • I can now say, "Roman go get your ball" and he will. Then I will ask him to give it to daddy and he will walk right over to his daddy! I'm so proud of him! This just starting happening this week!
  • Crawling is so long gone! I haven't seen this boy crawl in a long time. Running is seriously just around the corner!! Uh oh!
  • Roman's nightly routine has changed a little since he doesn't get a bottle anymore. Matt will usually give him a bath and then I will give him some cold milk in a sippy cup. We then go brush his teeth. Right now he thinks it's cool! We'll see how long that lasts! Next we go in his room and I read the same book every night. "Good morning, Good night". Actually, I don't read it, I have it memorized! Ha! After reading the story, we turn out the light and I sing to him, "Amazing Grace" while rocking him. After a couple times through the song, I lay him down with his favorite blankie and luvie and he soothes himself to sleep. It's the same process every night!

What an amazing year! It's true, time really does fly when you're having fun!

Here's our silly boy!

In the park with my cousins!

After Roman's birthday party, the whole family took a walk down to the park and enjoyed the amazing weather! Roman loves hanging out with his triplet cousins!!!

Fly over for the fun!!

Our little man turned One!!

We invited our close friends and family over this past Saturday for some airplane fun! As they entered the "airport" they knew where to go! I had a great time hand making these little banners throughout the house!

I want us to pray this over Roman the next year.

His cake!
When the guests arrived, they put their stuff in the baggage check

When the little party people left, they got to grab a gift from Baggage Claim. It was a toddler book describing airplanes!

Here's Roman's little smash cake. Next to it were peanuts and pretzels courtesy of Delta airlines

Each guests received a complimentary in-flight snack (sandwich boxed lunches)

The children had a great time playing together! Hopefully the adults did too! Many pictures to come...

This was only a few of the mommies and their babies. I didn't get the ones that left earlier. Bummer!Grandma and Mark with the triplets enjoying their cake!
It's time to sing to the big boy!
