getting it slowly

Roman is starting to mature more and more.  We took him with us to serve this past Saturday morning with our small group.  We helped at a clothing drive place where people pick out a few items for their families.  Roman and his friend Mac helped collect hangers.  I was taking around a woman who had just gotten out of prison only two days prior from drug abuse and had her six year old son with her. He was going crazy and hiding under the clothes racks.  Roman and Mac came over and asked him if he wanted to help work with them.  They were such great helpers!  It's so innocent to see things through a children's eye.  Roman had no clue that little boy with a mohawk was poor and raised by his grandmother while his mom was in prison.  He just saw him as another friend to play with.  We talked later about how that little boy needed shoes and was looking for some there.  Roman then proceeded to tell me that he needed some roller skate shoes too.  We're getting there!  Then last night we talked about how some children may not have blankets like his.  He said he wanted to go buy some blankets for the kids the next time we work there.  I love his heart.

We also read about Mary and Martha in the bible last night.  Martha was busy working away while Mary was sitting calmly at Jesus's feet.  I am so a Martha!  I am always running trying to get everything done.  I know that I need to be more like Mary and just sit with my children and also sit quietly with the holy spirit.  Today I was frantically folding laundry, making popsicles, cleaning the kitchen, making bread all while the kids were playing.  Hudson started asking me to play with him.  I stopped and asked Roman if I was being a Martha.  He said yes, but admitted he was being like her too by playing only on his phone.  We all stopped what we were doing and played puzzles together.  Don't worry, the kids started fighting over the puzzles a few minutes later!  I'm just learning that as I slowly pour truth into their minds, they are actually learning.  I love these little people that I have so much!!
