A day of working at home...

Yesterday was so crazy that I just feel the need to blog about it. I want to remember what a typical day of working from home is like. My mom is in town all week - thank goodness!! Here's what happened:

6:30 am - I woke up and nursed Roman

7:00 am - Change Roman's WET diaper, take Captain out, pump while eating breakfast and playing with Roman

7:30 am - Go on a walk with my mom, Roman, and Captain

8:00 am - Put Roman down for a nap and turn on computer and start replying to work emails

8:30 am - get on treadmill and run a mile then do crunches and stretch

9:15 am - take a quick shower and throw my wet hair up in a bun. Grab a cup of wonderful coffee

9:25 am - Wake up Roman and nurse him while working on some AutoCAD drawings on the computer

9:55 am - Throw Captain in the back bedroom and give Roman to my mom to play with him

10:00 am - lock myself upstairs while on a conference call so they can not hear the dog or baby. I put it on mute for most of the time. While on mute, I noticed that Roman had spit up on his sheet in his crib, so I proceed to change his sheet and get the laundry together for after the call.

10:30 am - Roman has his 2nd poopy diaper already for the day. After changing him, I try to play with him for a moment

10:45 am - Put Roman down for a nap

11:00 am - warm up a quick bite to eat for lunch and receive a phone call from EDS. "Can you come up here and pick up some plans that I need you to work on?" I respond, of course! Because that's what I have to do. I throw on a pair of jeans and drive to the office with wet hair and no makeup.

12:30 pm - Come home with 3 new projects (one of these includes 13 drawings that I need to create!) PANIC!!

12:35 pm - Try to nurse Roman while I start working on the computer. He won't nurse. Then he has another poopy diaper. My mom changes it while I continue to work. It has blood in it! Then he has another one! I call the doctor and they are on a lunch break until 1:30! Are you kidding me?! I continue to try to nurse while working. My mom takes Roman's temperature - good. So she plays with him while I work.

1:30 pm- Doctor definitely wants to see Roman. We schedule it for 3:40 pm. I continue to work.

2:00 pm - Roman goes down for a short nap while I work

2:45 pm - I wake Roman up and try to nurse him again. He then has another bloody diaper!

3:20 pm - We leave for the doctor. Yes, my hair is still fairly wet and I am in my pj pants.

3:45 pm - Doctor thinks it was just an inner tear in the skin and not to worry. But we did get the go ahead to give Roman solids twice a day now. I am told to re-think his schedule and try for only 5 bottles a day.

4:30 pm - Run to the grocery store to pick up some baby food for Roman. I plan to make it at home in the future, but this will work for now.

5:00 pm - My mom plays with Roman while I continue to work. I finally finish the 13 drawings, but my Internet quits working so I can't send them off. I'll deal with that later! I start cooking dinner

6:00 pm - nurse Roman then my mom feeds him his rice cereal while I cook dinner

6:30 pm - we sit down to a homemade meal of rice, shrimp, scallops, and veggies (it was fabulous!)

7:00 pm - My mom once again plays with Roman while I send off the drawings to EDS. I then get to enjoy Roman and my mom. We just play!

8:00 pm - I give Roman and bath and then we give him a bottle and put him to bed

9:00 pm - My mom is passing out on the couch wondering why she is tired! She goes to bed and I pump again

10:00 pm - I finally can relax and go to bed after getting all of the bottles ready for the next day and taking care of Captain.

Wow, it's non stop! The good news is that Roman is okay!!! Thank goodness my mom is here. Why can't she just move here?!

5 months already!

Roman is turned 5 months old on August 12th!! He is such a easy, happy baby! Here are some new happenings:

Roman weighs about 17 lbs!

Roman is still taking (5) 6 oz bottles or nursing in a 24 hour period and one 8 oz bottle of formula before bed. He eats every 3 hours

He loves his rice cereal now! He literally opens wide when the spoon is near him.

I put him to bed at 8:15-8:30 and now I have to wake him up at 6:30am! All of that hard work of sleep training was so worth it!!

Roman is laughing! His giggle literally melts my heart! I am obsessed with getting him to laugh! It doesn't happen all of the time, we have to work for it by being silly! Captain can make him laugh! Matt and I like to call it a "precious moment".

Roman will now sit up on his own for about 30 seconds. He just gets a little excited with his toys and knocks himself over. I think this will change by the end of the month.

He scoots!! Matt left him on his blanket the other day for 30 seconds and he had scooted 10 ft! The concept of crawling has quite been grasped, but it is coming very soon! Matt likes to call it Franks training camp.

We are officially using the real stroller now! He loves to be able to look out on our morning walks. Thanks mom for the best stroller ever! We use it all of the time!

Roman is literally OBSESSED with the jumparoo! He tries to jump every time you stand him up. It is so entertaining to see him jumping until he is almost out of breath! So cute!!

We are so in love with our little boy. He is doing so good at his little daycare 3 times a week. I think he's already making friends. Just like his daddy. I just can't get enough of him! Times are really good!!

Friday playdate with Chloe!

Last Friday Matt went to hang out with his guy friends, so I went to called my friend Lindsey and we had a last minute play date with the kiddos! We had a great time! Here are some pictures that she took. Thanks Lindsey for having us over!

Roman loved playing with Chloe's jumper!

We tried to get them to pose together!

Roman is grabbing for Chloe!

He fell asleep on my shoulder from all of the playing!

Eating rice cereal in Chloe's highchair. This is his first time to sit in a highchair!

Yummy, I want more!

If you're reading this post...

Then it worked! We decided to finally go private. There are just too many scary things out there and now that we have Roman everything has changed! Lot's of new little things have been going on with us lately...

My company did a lot of lay-off's last month. It was kind of crazy. No, I did not get laid off, but I did get cut back to 4 day work weeks. I'm actually thrilled! It took Matt a while to get used to the idea, but now we're all happy. One more day with my sweet little baby boy and husband! Matt is trying to get every Friday off so we can spend those days together as a family. I work one day at home also, either Tuesday or Wednesday. This schedule is now perfect! I am only at the office 3 days a week. Roman's school has agreed to work with us on only taking him 3 days a week. This helped in the price tremendously. God really does work things out!

I'm in my "working from home" attire!

Last week Matt was off all week. We had a great time as a family! We went on lots of walks and ate really good home cooked food from the pro, Matt!

Roman is obsessed with his new jumparoo bouncer! It is so cute! He literally bounces until he is wheezing! Trust me, we don't leave him in there longer than 5 minutes at a time.

Check out that huge smile!!
Roman is growing so much! He is now almost 16-1/2 lbs! He's actually getting heavy to carry up and down the stairs. I love it. Who needs an arm workout when you have a little Roman?!

Love those chunky legs!
Roman's feeding schedule that we were supposedly going to change didn't work. That kid wants to eat every three hours during the day and that's final. Trust me, he will let you know! The new schedule only lasted 4 miserable days. When his "sleeping through the night" got affected, the schedule went out the door. Now we are all happy and I have to usually wake him in the mornings around 6:15ish so I can get going for the day. I love that he sleeps 10 hours!! This is the best age so far!

That's all for now. I'm so glad that I can now write about our little family and not have to worry about the crazy people out there.

swimming, playing, and laking

Matt and I have been so busy lately with friends. We've had a great time! It's so fun to just bring little Roman with us everywhere we go now.
Roman has had lots more pool time. Don't worry, we keep him covered in the shade. The Monda's had us over for a pool party 2 weekends ago. We had a great time!

Roman is in deep thought!

Jay and Matt

We had league over at Kristin's last week for us all to hang with Madison. It was so exciting to have our babies meet!!

They're starting to cry...

Check out Roman's pout!
This went downhill really fast! Look at us cracking up at our children!!

Last weekend, Jay and Suzy invited us to her parent's lake house. We had a great time! The house was amazing! It was great to get away and relax for an evening. We all went skiing. I got up first try!! Of course, there are no pictures of me up there to prove it! We got some pictures of Matt skiing, though.

The gang! We're heading to the dock. One should never walk when you have other transportation!

Matt is showing off!

4 Months Old!!

Roman is now officially 4 months old!! Wow, time flies!!! My baby is growing so fast! He had a cold this past week, so I took him to the doctor on Monday and they let me go ahead and get his 4 month check up. My mom is here all week, so she got to go with me. Things were so different than the time she went with me before at his 2 week appointment. Roman had lost more weight and was 6-1/2 lbs. We were so nervous because breastfeeding wasn't working and he couldn't hold on weight. We had to immediately supplement with formula. I was so scared and felt like such a failure! All I wanted to do was to be able to breastfeed my baby. Well, it ended up working! After lots of prayers and dedication, my little Roman is growing before our eyes and I am able to breastfeed him with one supplemented bottle at night.

Here are his stats:

Weight - 15lbs 2oz (55%)
Height - 24-5/8" (40%)
Head - 42.6" (48%)
Roman is still sleeping from 8:30 pm to 6:00am. He will continue to wake up sometimes around 4 or 5 am. Yes, he still goes to the swing in our room if I can't soothe him in his crib. I am a working mom and it's hard to get sleep!!

He rolls 360 degrees and sleeps mostly on his stomach.

Roman can now grab and hold on to his toys. Everything ends up in his mouth!

He is "talking" all of the time! I mean, he's cooing and expressing himself so much!

We introduced rice cereal last night! He actually took it! I am going to continue to try this every evening.

This has been our schedule for a long time. Roman was getting about 37 oz of milk a day.
6:00 am - wake, feed (nurse), play
7:30 am - nap
9:00 am - wake, feed (60z bottle or nurse), play
10:30 am - nap
12:00pm - wake, feed (60z bottle or nurse), play
1:30 pm - nap
3:00pm - wake, feed (60z bottle or nurse), play
4:30 pm - nap
6:00pm - wake, feed (nurse) play
8:00pm - bath time
8:15 pm - 7oz bottle formula, bedtime!

The doctor suggested that I change his schedule to only 5 feedings a day, so we're trying it. Man, I never realized how scheduled Roman really was. It is so difficult to change him! He is still getting approximately 37 oz of milk a day. Here's our new schedule:

6:00am - wake, feed (nurse), play
7:30am - nap
9:30 am - wake, feed (80z bottle or nurse), play
11:30am - nap
1:00pm - wake, feed (70z bottle or nurse), play
2:30pm - nap
4:30 pm - wake, feed (7oz bottle or nurse), play
6:00 pm - rice cereal
7:45 pm - bath time
8:00 pm - feed (80z formula bottle) bedtime!

Any suggestions to the schedule are appreciated. We're just trying to keep him growing and get enough sleep.

Here are more pics of him at 4 months!

Busy Busy weekend!

Roman had a very busy weekend. We had so many activities and now he's sick. My poor boy is going to the doctor this afternoon for chest congestion and a low grade fever. This is his first time to be sick. Sigh.

Friday night we had our good friends Jeff and Alisha over for dinner. Matt made the entire meal while I played with Roman. He's the best husband ever!! He created homemade Moroccan couscous with lemon pepper chicken. He set the table so neatly. Cute! Roman played in his exersaucer for part of the meal.

Alisha and me getting ready for dinner!

Saturday afternoon we went over to Suzy and Jay's house to swim in their pool. Monty and Jennifer came over with Reece too!

I just adore him!!!

After the pool time, we hurried home and got ready for one of Matt's friends from high school, Brandi's wedding. It was in her parent's backyard on the golf course. My mom came in town to watch Roman so we could go. Matt and I enjoyed a night out together!
