Roman's 5 year old facts

Our big boy went to his five year check up the other day and is growing too fast!

weight: 42 lb 12oz (65%)
height: 43.75" (70%)

  • Roman is such a happy, friendly little boy.  He loves to be around people all the time.  He always wants to be playing with a friend.
  • Roman wears size five clothes and size 11 shoe
  • He loves snack foods like any kid and is our hardest eater.  He usually complains about most dinners and then ends up eating almost everything on his plate eventually.  He's an extremely slow eater too.  He will eat almost anything for any type of dessert!
  • Roman is extremely strong willed.  He still can be very defiant and tough but we're trying to keep a tight grip on him.  God has big plans for him!
  • Roman has such a sweet heart.  He loves to be loved on and praised.  He truly cares about his friends and family.
  • Roman is still obsessed with superheros.  I love that he still dresses up in costume at least a few times a week!  I never want his imagination to end!
  • He still has a quiet time from 2-3:45 every afternoon.  He plays hard in his room by himself with his superheroes and toys.  It is so great for his imagination.
  • Roman loves his preschool.  He goes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9-1.
  • Roman is all boy and constantly active.  He rarely stops for a minute!

I did the annual birthday questionnaire with him today and it was neat to see some of his favorite things have stayed the same for a couple of years. We're so proud of our big boy!

listening and following

A few weeks ago, when Judy, Lisa, and Rachel were here praying over Matt and I, they mentioned to be ready and listen for the Holy Spirit.  It's hard to understand sometimes when people say God spoke to them, but I truly know that God has spoken to me and is still speaking.  I can't sleep a lot lately (go figure) and when I'm just laying there, he tells me different things.  One thing I know for sure is that he wants me to write this entire process of cancer down on paper.  The next day, he told me to speak at the Heights church in Dallas when I go there for a girls trip in April.  I started writing it all down the next day and had 7 pages written within 3 days.  Wow!  God  is just so cool!  I'm not a writer or a speaker, but I'm going to do what he says.  It's crazy because I was supposed to be going to Mexico with Matt for a wedding the weekend of April 6th, but Matt decided we should save money and I stay home since I can't truly enjoy a beach trip now.  We decided that we would take a trip together when this whole process is over.  I was so bummed, but decided to go to Dallas instead.  Now, I'm going to be speaking that Sunday morning at our old church.  Funny and cool how God works!  I love being a part of his work!

Blessed

We are so blessed to have such amazing support and family.  Matt's parents come in town for an entire week every three weeks when I receive my treatments.  They help out with errands, playing with the kids, and everything else in between.  We love them so much and there is absolutely no way we could battle through this process without their help.  I feel so blessed!

10 months

Hudson turned 10 months old in March.  I can't believe how fast time is flying!  He's getting so big!  Here are his stats:
weight: 23lb 15oz (85%)
height: 31" (95%)
head circ: 19" (95%)

  • Hudson loves people food.  He loves to pick food up with his fingers and isn't so interested in baby food anymore.  He eats everything now from eggs to cheese to casseroles and in between.
  • Hudson has no teeth!  Yes, he eats all this food with absolutely no teeth!
  • He loves to crawl so fast everywhere and pulls to stand up to anything.  He has stood by himself for a few seconds.  He is so fast!
  • Hudson wears mostly size 12-18 and 18 month clothes and size 4 diaper.
  • He's such a happy baby now that his tummy doesn't hurt anymore.  He's always "talking" and making noises.  Hudson loves to be around people.
  • He loves to play with balls all the time and was even revving up his car engines today.  He is definitely all boy!
  • Hudson can't ever sit still and loves to be held by mommy or daddy.  He loves his meema too.  She has gotten to spend tons of time with him.
Hudson is such a joy and delight to our family.  I couldn't imagine life without him.  He will always be my little miracle baby that saved my life.  We love you sweet boy with all our hearts!

Sarah time!

One if my childhood best friends, Sarah Caldwell decided to fly in town for my fifth chemo treatment. It was so great to have her here with me. We just hung around the house and played with the kids the whole weekend. It was relaxing and so great to catch up with her. I hadn't seen her in a year and a half! I love you Sarah! You'll never know how much this trip meant to me!!

Look who surprised us!!

Andy and Elizabeth were planning on coming in town during their spring break, but then she wasn't feeling well, so we thought they weren't coming. It was so exciting to get a phone call on Sunday afternoon saying they were only a couple hours away! We had the best week with them!! I wish they could just move here!! The kids played so well together and had a blast!

Roman is five!

We had the Jansen's over for Roman's birthday to celebrate with more pizza and cake. Andy and Elizabeth were here too and wanted to meet the Jansen's. It was so great to have some of our favorite people all together. The kids had a blast as usual. Life is so beautiful! Happy birthday Roman!

On Roman's actual birthday, we celebrated with Andy and Elizabeth and had even more cake.  Roman got so many different celebrations!!  We sang to him that morning.

I'm FIVE!
