Christmas Part Two (Tulsa)

Let me start off by saying how lucky I am to have such wonderful in-laws. I love my family!! They very graciously invited my mom to come have Christmas with them so she would not be alone while my brother went out of town with his in-laws. My mom was planning on staying in Missouri Christmas day with my brother and then driving the next day to do Christmas with the Franks. I was planning on leaving Missouri on Christmas Eve morning and meeting Matt in Tulsa that afternoon. Boy, plans can change so quickly!!

Christmas Eve morning, my mom and I looked at the weather and saw that it was supposed to snow a lot. I decided that my mom should just drive with me to Tulsa that day because she may not make it a couple of days later. We left and drove in rain the entire time and then as we approached Tulsa, it started to snow. Tulsa literally had a blizzard! My mom and I made it safely with Roman and Captain. We kept waiting to hear if Matt and his brother, Mike, (another pilot) would make it. Bill and Pam, Matt's parents, were hosting the Christmas Eve dinner at their house with all of his aunts and uncles and cousins. Matt's dad left in the blizzard to go pick up Matt at the airport. Matt jump seated on a FedEx flight from Memphis to Tulsa. Sure enough, as they were about to land in Tulsa, the airport closed down and Matt's dad came home without my husband! I was almost in tears. Poor Matt had to go back to Memphis and stay in a crummy hotel room with fast food for dinner by himself on Christmas eve! Brother Mike didn't make it either! He had to fly to Dallas and actually stayed at our house by himself too. So it ended up on Christmas morning with my mom, Roman, me, and Matt's parents all by ourselves. How funny!! I made a breakfast casserole for us and we enjoyed our little family together! Matt had to rent a car from Memphis and drive 6 hours on Christmas day to be with us. He finally got there around 3 in the afternoon. Christmas day, we all went to Grandma's house with the entire family. It ended up being a Christmas to remember. Tulsa got between 9-12 inches of snow!!

The day after Christmas, we all celebrated our Franks family Christmas. Bill, Pam, my mom, Mark, Whitney, the triplets, Mike, Matt, Roman, and I all went to dinner and then back to their house to open gifts. There are so many gifts that it lasted forever!! Roman was so excited that he stayed up until 11pm with all of us. We had such a great time!! Roman got so many toys and clothes. The best surprise that Matt and I got was the Nikon camera that I've been wanting for forever! I'm so excited to take better pictures now!! We are so blessed to have such a great family! We had such a wonderful Christmas despite the weather. Thank you Lord for all of your blessings!

Mike and Matt made a snow man family! Isn't Matt so silly?!

What a Christmas! Isn't it always good to remember that Christmas is about being with family and loved ones. I'm sure Matt could have been in the nicest hotel with a great meal and it would have been nothing without you. Yea Franks, this is the year Ashley I can feel it!
