Carmen is One!!!

Carmen turned one year old on June 22nd, 2012.  I can't believe how fast time flies.  We've had a great year.  It was harder than I imagined adjusting to two kids, but we wouldn't have it any other way.  Carmen is such a good baby and such a joy to our lives.  What an amazing year we've had with her!  I took her to her 1 year appointment the week after her birthday.  Here are her stats:

Weight: 24lb 12oz (92%)

Height: 31.5" (97%)

Head Circ: 18.5" (92%)

Carmen is a big, healthy girl!!

• Carmen pulls up to stand holding onto things and walks around things but still doesn't walk on her own
• Carmen loves to dance.  She's a mover and a shaker when that music comes on!  It's absolutely adorable to watch her rhythm.
• Carmen is officially off the bottle and done with nursing.  I tried to nurse her the morning before she turned one like normal and she refused.  We ended it then and there.  She did great transitioning to the sippy cup.  I just took the bottle away when we got back from the lake and never looked back.  She is doing exactly what Roman did.  She's hasn't drank that much milk for about two weeks and is now pretty much back to normal.  Carmen drinks about 16 oz of whole milk a day.  
• Carmen eats so much right now just like Roman did at this age.  She's actually eating more than Roman right now.  It's crazy! She loves pizza, sandwiches, hamburgers, brocolli, watermelon, strawberries, sweet potatoes, scrambled eggs, pesto, all pastas, and pretty much everythign else I put in front of her.  This is the time to introduce all the healthy foods that I can.
• Carmen is so attached to her daddy.  If Matt is home, she definitely prefers him.  I love that so much.  There is nothing like the relationship between a father and his daughter.  Matt is an incredible father and I love to see them together!
• Carmen loves water and loves the pool.  She doesn't mind getting her head wet and loves to go in the splash pad all the time.  
• Carmen loves climbing our stairs and we always have to watch her!
• Carmen still wears a size 4 diaper and size 18 month clothes.  She wears a size 4 shoe.
• Carmen's only word so far is "da da".  She calls me "da da" and I always say, "no mama". Then she proceeds to laugh so hard.  It's so funny!
• Carmen has her front six teeth and one side molar.  I think more are coming because the amount of drool right now is out of control!
• Carmen loves to clap, wave, point, and dance.  
• She's starting to get shy around people she's not familiar with.  We went to a neighborhood fourth of July party and she was attached to me most of the time.  I just embrace her gripping hugs and know they won't last forever.
• Carmen is attached to her silky blanket and lovey.  I never thought an attachment would happen this fast, but she loves them at night time and nap times and rubs the silky part just like I used to do when I was little.

What a difference a year makes!

What an amazing year!  We can't wait to experience many more years with you, sweet girl!  You light up our lives and we love you more than you will ever know!!
