Carmen Dale Franks is here!

Carmen Dale Franks
June 22nd, 2011
8lbs 4oz
20-1/2" long
11:59 PM
It all started on Wednesday morning. I went to the doctor around 10:30am and was dilated to a 4 and 80% effaced. The doctor said I would probably have contractions throughout the day after the appointment. She was right. She also scheduled me an induction for Saturday morning just in case Carmen decided to take her time. We knew that Matt would have to go to work by Monday and we wanted him to be here for the birth. After having tons of contractions and walking all through Costco, I decided that this was probably it! Contractions were starting to be about 4 minutes apart from 1pm on. By dinner time, I was getting in more pain, but I just wanted to hold off going to the hospital because I wanted one last home cooked meal. My mom had made yummy meatloaf, but we didn't have time to eat it. We needed to head down to the hospital fast! So we had to stop on the way. Matt was offering going to Luna de Noche. Really Matt?! Do you want to order fajitas or something? I'm in labor! We stopped for a burger. Note to self: Don't eat a bacon cheeseburger and fries while on the way to the hospital in labor! I felt nauseous the entire evening!
They immediately gave us a room and skipped triage. Yippee! That meant it was go time!

We got to the hospital a little before 7pm. I was dilated to a 5 by the time we got to the hospital. Things move a lot faster on your second child!

Baby girl had a healthy heart beat the entire time.By the time I got the epidural, I was dilated to a 6. About 30 minutes to an hour after I got the epidural, I started coughing and couldn't stop. It was so weird. Next thing I know, I'm looking at Matt and my eyes are rolling back. I was about to pass out. The "new" nurse didn't have me propped enough to my side and so I almost passed out. They had to give me oxygen and then everything was okay.Proud parents!I started pushing around 11pm. The epidural started wearing off, but they didn't want to give me anymore because they wanted me to be able to push. It worked, but man I felt the birth. Let's just say it hurt! All worth it because our precious Carmen arrived at 11:59 and 41 seconds! Talk about crazy timing!!She's here!!!!Proud Matt!! He's so excited to have a boy and a girl!

Mommy was so excited to hold my baby girl!
Headed up to our room!
They had to drop Carmen off at the nursery to get a little bath.

We feel so blessed to be parents to this sweet little girl! I am so grateful for a healthy baby and easy delivery! God is so great!!!
